I am Shaun H. Mykals and I’m a digitally independent artist. You don’t know the term yet because you don’t know my story, so let me talk to you.
Doing this has been exciting, challenging, frustrating, and empowering. "Urban Sophistication" is my first project on my label 710 Muzic. When I approached this project, I thought about what I missed on the radio. There is some great music out there but I really miss music with vocal styling. So I took ownership of the digital age and its technology to record and produce "Urban Sophistication." This gave me the freedom to put together my own body of music with full creative license. Producing this project wasn't easy. My studio wasn't high tech and my locale was local. It would have been nice to jet off to the Caribbean to record but the closest I got to Jamaica was Jamaica, Queens. LOL! Seriously, it’s good that being a digitally independent artist is a reality because the temporary set backs of bad label deals, broken promises, and closed doors can push your dreams right out the door. This project, "Urban Sophistication," is the promise I kept to myself. On the first single, "Rolla Coaster," I can hear my process. Listening to it, I remember challenging my own voice, all the mixing, balancing, remixing. Most of my recording physically took place in some small spots at my home where the sound was right but the space was tight! I know you’re thinking the bathroom but that ain’t it. LOL. The mixed and mastered end product really surprised me. I'm my own worst critic, but I was able to make a product that I am very proud of. I am Shaun Mykals, digitally independent artist and I introduce to you, "Urban Sophistication." 
Don't be afraid to annoy people...
You know, as an independent artist, sometimes I worry about putting myself out there too much. As far as posting on sites like facebook and twitter, I feel like if I post a song or video of mine once or maybe twice, that's enough! I don't want to annoy people by flooding their inboxes or pages with my promo items..., BUT THAT'S NOT THE CASE ANY MORE!!!! LOL. I realized while listening to the radio and even watching TV, that I am invaded with the SAME PROMOS and the SAME SONGS over …

SINGING FOLK..
Have you ever been around some (excuse my slang) Singin' Folk??.. I mean.. people that can just BLOW!!!!! tonight I went to see a play Called ... "All That Glitters" and there were some "SINGIN FOLK" in that play.. I really enjoyed myself.. and I appreciate great talent when I see it... a lot of times we think that the greatest talent is on the big platforms when truthfully i've some of the greatest talent on small platforms.. (while they may not be on small platforms for long), i think we sometimes underestimate GREATNESS ON SMALLER SCALES... The play was in a relatively small theater and i have yet to hear "SINGIN FOLK" like i heard tonight in huge arenas... I'm just glad I got to experience it... "SINGIN FOLK"... and I'm out.... lol..
Welcome to my Blog!!!
Wassup everyone... I was inspired by a GREAT friend and PHENOMAL singer/musician/actress Cynthia Renee to start a blog.. This is the first of many posting that I will be doing... Today I have been working on getting things together for a Haitian Benefit that I will be doing in Washington, DC within the next month.. I have been thinking about doing it for a while.. and decided to GET MOTIVATED today... lol.. I'm looking forward to getting together with many of my talented friends to raise money for a great cause... I will be keeping you posted on this event and other things going on in my professional.. and maybe..MAYBE... personal life.. LOL.. so keep reading.. until then.. be at peace!!
